2010 A Glorious year for Andhra Pradesh Table Tennis Association
The Year 2010 can be christened as ·the most Glorious Year for the Andhra Pradesh Table Tennis Association. Never in the history, the Association could  aim at such achievements and activity as did in the year 2010. The credit goes to the Players, Coaches, parents and the Administrators of the Association.

For the State of Andhra Pradesh the year started with K.Spoorthy winning the National Ranking Championship East held in West Bengal in the Sub Junior Girls event and followed by her winning streak in the other National Ranking Championships which inspired T.T.F.I. to include her in the Indian Team for the U.S. Open Championships at Michigan where she made every one of us proud by winning the Gold Medal in Sub Junior Girls event in July 2010.

The Table Tennis Federation of India at our request for the first time obliged in confirming Hyderabad as a Center for the International Umpires Examination conducted by the ITTF and consequently more than 20 umpires from our State alone had an opportunity to appear for the said examination along with the other candidates from the states of Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Pondichery, Kerala and Goa. The orientation course organized by A.P.TT.A. under the guidance of Mr. Ganeshan from Kerala a couple of days prior to the examination yielded fruits as a result of which, 14 umpires from A.P. have qualified in the Examination and today the State of Andhra Pradesh is proud to have 14 qualified International Umpires in Table Tennis in the year 2010 while there were none. prior to that. Immediate assignments from T.T.F.I. followed to Mr. Prabhakar, who could officiate as umpire in Common Wealth Games 2010, New Delhi and Mr. M. Lakshmikanth officiated as Asst. Chief Referee in the Global Junior Circuit T.T. Championship in Hyderabad.

The AP. State T.T. Association successfully organized all the State Ranking Tournaments including the Inter District and State Championship for the year 2010 as framed in the calendar of the year. The First Ranking Tournament held at Rajahmundry for the first time by the East Godavari District T.T. Association under the leadership of Sri V. Bhaskar Ram was an unique championship conducted with commitment and conviction. All the players enjoyed every moment of their participation. So also, the last Ranking Tournament was organized for the first time at Secunderabad Club by Rangareddy District Association which was also a new and befitting place for the players to excel. However, the St. Pauls T.T. Academy Ranking Tournament and the Anandnagar Welfare Association T.T. Academy Tournament, the Anantapur and Vijayawada State Ranking Championships which are the regular events in the calendar were organized in their own way to the satisfaction of one and all. The Nellore District Table Tennis Association for the first time successfully organized Stag AP Inter District and State Championship 2010.

The most successful conduct of the International Event, "Global Junior Circuit and Cadet Challenge Cup-2010" by A.P.T.T.A. with the support of T.T.F.I. and I.T.T.F. at Hyderabad from November 151 to 7th 2010 once again proved the strength of the Andhra Pradesh Table Tennis Association. Though the Office Bearers of the Association were running from pillar to post to collect funds and identify sponsorers for the championship, required funds could not be collected and inspite of the same, active cooperation from well wishers of the game enabled us to meet the budget with a couple of Lakhs out standings due to S.M. Sultan, the Director of the Championship. The personal contribution of Rs.2.5 Lakhs from Sri V. Bhaskar Ram, is laudable. All the I.T.T.F. officials present during the championship were all in praise for the organizational skills and capacities of the AP. Table Tennis Association. The city of Hyderabad was fortunate enough to host such an official International event in the year 2010 and many players and officials had an unique opportunity to witness the five time World Champion Mr. Peter Carlson in action in a coaching assignment from I.T.T.F. to all the youngsters from all the continents for a period of four days. The Table Tennis Federation of India and the International Table Tennis Federation presented a trophy to the Andhra Pradesh Table Tennis Association on the final day for organizing the Championship beyond their expectations very successfully.

Any Sports and Games Association can declare itself effective only when the players of the Association achieve good results to themselves and to the State/Nation. The Andhra Pradesh Table Tennis Association is really proud to take note of the performance of the Cadet Girls, Sub Junior Girls, Junior Girls and Youth Girls during the National Championships 2010 held at Indore and Ahmadabad. The following are the overwhelming results/achievements of the AP. Teams in the National Championships-2010.

Sridhar and Venu Gopal to be a part of the AP. Teams winning streak and all the time A. P. players were seen on the prize distribution podium whenever Gold Medals were to be presented to the Winning Teams at Indore. The efforts of the players with the support of their respective regular coaches and the co-operation of the parents and the overall team spirit and bondage created by the Association is the ultimate result which the players could achieve in the year 2010.

Junior Girls Team Gold: Followed by the Sub Junior Nationals was the Junior Nationals at Ahmadabad wherein literally the Sub Junior Girls Team of AP. having qualified No.1 in their group went on to WIN the quarter finals, semi finals and finally the finals of the Junior Girls Inter State Team Championship Cup to AP. causing a major surprise and shock to one and all at the venue. Thus, AP. Girls for the first time also won the Junior Girls Title beating every State in the Country.

Nikhat Banu : Our former National Cadet Girls Champion has been maintaining her track well for the last six years by continuously being part of the Indian Team in Sub Juniors and Juniors as on date. In the year 2010 Nikhat Banu represented India in Five International Championships held at France, Germany, Thailand-Bangkok, Hongkong and Dehradun. Indian Team  with Nikhat Banu won Bronze Medal in French Open and Gold Medal at Dehradun.

Karnam Spoorthy : was selected by the Table Tennis Federation of India from AP. to represent India in the French Junior Open T.T. Championship and also for the Spain Junior Open T.T. Championship. K. Naina: The cadet national champion 2010 is picked up by The Table Tennis Federation of India from AP. as part of the Indian contingent for a 21 days ;"," coaching camp schedule to be held in China from 15th May 2011 onwards. Hope to see Naina and Spoorthy with rapid improvement in the game from China.

Akshi Sancheti's :
Participation in the National Championships representing AP. for all these years helped AP. in winning the team Championships in 2010. This Cheerful and composed girl is always instrumental for the State of A, P in winning the deciders without confusion and tension at her tender age unlike other players. The combination of Akshi  & Sporty in doubles is commendable and their winning the doubles match has always been the key factor in winning the matches. Her health restrained her from participating in the National Ranking Championships during the year 2010 as a result, could not secure a berth in the Indian Team. Else, A P. would have got another feather in its cap in national scenario.

Veterans of A.P. have participated in a large contingent in the Veterans National Championship at Delhi under the leadership of Mr. S.P. Jagannath and won many medals for AP. Sri G.v.S. Veerabadhara Rao alone won 4 Gold medals and AP. Team is the most outstanding team in the Nationals.

The Stag International Sports Equipment manufacturing company has come forward with a coaching committee to develop the Game of Table Tennis at the National level and the said committee is headed by our former National Champion and Arjuna  Awardee Mr. Kamlesh Mehta. It has proposed to organize the first coaching camp in Andhra Pradesh under the guidance of Mr. Kamlesh Mehta to the state pro babies of A P. and the neighbouring states in Junior Category only. The said camp is likely to be in the month of July for a period of 15 days only. The State Association is obligated to extend hospitality to all the players and coaches.

"DONIC" another Sports equipment manufacturing company approached the AP. State Table Tennis Association offering itself to associate with us and particularly with the AP. Teams participating in the Nationals by coming forward to provide the total kit to all the three state teams for the next three years.

Air Ports Authority of India extended its Sports Scheme Contract to Nikhat Banu and K. Spoorthy from Andhra Pradesh under which contract each of them will be paid RS.15,000/- per month in addition to the reimbursement of all the travel and other expenditure for the National Ranking Tournament and an Annual Kit Allowance. Since Naina is under aged, her candidature could not be forwarded and recommended

The above achievements inspired the Table Tennis Federation of India to bestow and judge A.P.State Table Tennis Association as THE BEST State Association in India for the year 2010. A trophy was presented to AP. State Association by the President of T.T.F.I. in the General Body Meeting held at Delhi in March 2011.

All the above achievements could not have been suddenly achieved in a given year, but, for the initial motivation, guidance and the goal aimed at by our former President of Andhra Pradesh State Table Tennis Association Shri Sudeep Lakhtakia, I.P.S., and it is the committed hard work of the players, parents, coaches and the Office Bearers of A.P.T.T.A. for the past one decade that yielded all the flourishing results in the year 2010. Hence, the year 2010 can be proudly proclaimed, remembered and cherished by one and all as the glorious year for the game of Table Tennis in Andhra Pradesh.

The sudden demise of B. Uday Kumar, Secretary, Krishna District Table Tennis Association and also executive committee member of A.P.T.T.A. on 9th March, 2011 is a big shock and a great loss to the Table Tennis fraternity in AP.

Thanks to one and all for their support and co-operation
